The Google Home was already a competent aide when it launched in November 2016, and it has only improved since then. It will now customize its responses for all of your family members based on who's talking. Each of your family members needs to download the Home app to a phone, then they will be able to train the Home to recognize their voices by repeating the wake words a couple of times. The experience is clearly what Google wants to use going forward, but it pales in comparison to what the Google Nest built up over several years. Again, you need either a Chromecast streamer or a TV with Chromecast built-in to make any of this work. If you have that, the Home actually makes voice-controlled TV doable. Search for a recipe on your phone, and you can send any of 5 million different options to the Home.

For the most part, the Home performs admirably, even when it's listening for you over music or background noise, again keeping up with -- but not surpassing -- the Echo. " will keep the mic hot for follow up commands so you don't have to say the wake words every time. You can also issue two commands to Google at once, and it'll respond to both. Face Match for the Hub Max is an optional feature that allows the cam to recognize you and show you personalized notifications when you walk into the room. It includes thermostats, smart lights, smart switches, smart locks, sprinklers, security systems, large appliances and even some cars. Just say "stop" and you'll be able to silence your smart speaker. While your alarm is sounding, "stop" essentially functions as an additional wake word.

Google Home launched with a 2-inch driver and dual 2-inch passive radiators. For the time, the sound was acceptable, but the Google Nest Audio takes things to the next level. If you were to crack open your Nest Audio (please don’t), you would find a 2.95-inch woofer and a 0.75-inch tweeter. The arrangement of a larger woofer and a smaller tweeter allows for better audio reproduction, with the Nest Audio outputting better bass notes and more crisp highs. Of course, if you’re after the ultimate audio product from Google, you should also take a look at the Google Home Max.

Like the Echo before it, Google's speaker is a worthwhile means of bringing order to a home filled with connected devices and multiple occupants. Instead of wrestling with a mishmash of apps and sharing access to those apps with different people, anyone in range can control your smart devices with a simple voice command. Plus, Assistant is more forgiving than Alexa if you flub the exact name of a device. Once it's set up, either way, you can control your smart devices with a voice command to your Google Home.

Your opinion in this article is totally off and has a obvious narrow minded, uninformed point of view. Home is not useless as it has MUCH BETTER SOUND than minis or the Hub are capable of providing. They also respond to touch/volume control way better than the Next Minis.

There’s no guarantee this amounts to a discontinuation of the speaker. We’ve seen devices listed as unavailable before, only to return to sale soon afterward (including a recent situation where the HomePod was briefly “sold out”). It wouldn’t be surprising if Google did phase out the Home, however. Google introduced this speaker back in 2016 — a lot has changed in four years, including a larger speaker lineup from Google itself as well as improved competition.
